Youngest Children:

Youngest Children Some of the possible effects of severe maternal deprivation on young children have already been mentioned in Chapter 5. In one case the mother had been committed to the state mental hospital. A public health nurse, who had already had contact with this family of two parents and eight children, made the initial visit. The mother, apathetic and withdrawn, had neglected the children, especially the twins, who were the youngest. The father was staying away from the home more and more, and the oldest girl was assuming responsibility for the younger children, a task too heavy for her.

Only the parents of children with special educational needs seem to question the knowledge and experience of those entrusted with their children's education, often the classroom assistant. If a classroom assistant with little prior knowledge were expected to teach 'A'-Level Mathematics there would soon be a huge outcry. Yet the education of our youngest children is in many ways more important as attitudes, habits and ways of learning are being set for a lifetime.

See Also His Children 1919:

(1914); A Book-Lover's Holidays in the Open (1916) ; and The Great Adventure (1918). Perhaps Roosevelt is most charming of all in His children 1919 family relationships, and it is no accident that His children 1919 Letters to His children 1919 Children (1919) should have been by all means His children 1919 most widely sold book. No more virtuous or clean-living man ever existed; the temptations which wreck the lives of so many human beings simply did not exist for him. Though somewhat indifferent to formal theology, he was an earnest practicing Christian, deeply con¬cerned for His children 1919 own moral and spiritual decency and that of His children 1919 children.

Famous American Thoroughbreds. Perhaps the most famous of all American racers was -fan o' War, a horse seldom pressed in competition. A descendant of Matchem, "Big Red" raced 21 times as a 2- and 3-year-olcl (1919 and 1920), losing only once (to Upset at Sarasota in 1919). In an era not known for high purses, Man War's lifetime earnings totaled $249,465.
