Which The Small Landholder:

Which The Small Landholder He entered the army in 1835, but was compelled by ill health to withdraw and then entered the civil service. During the agricultural troubles of 1846—1847 he perceived the difficulty with which the small landholder procured credit and he conceived the idea of establishing small mutual credit associations which freed the fanner from the exorbitant rates of the usurers. His first efforts were at Heddersdorf and Wyerbusch and he then proceeded to extend the operation of the plan throughout Germany. In 1866 he broke down from overwork and retired for a time from public service.

Resistance to the levy was met by further decrees, extending the tax to the whole kingdom, and directing that every landholder and other inhabitant be assessed according to his means, and the tax collected by distress if neces¬sary. When John Hampden refused to pay.the tax, and was brought to trial, the judges de¬cided, eight to four, in favor of the crown. One of the early acts of the Long Parliament in 1640 was to declare the ship-money tax illegal and no attempt has since been made to collect ship money in England.

See Also Small Trees:

Unless you have enough ground to form a small trees arboretum, trees must of necessity be regarded as background or framework plants. Because trees are so important, they should be chosen carefully and positioned strategically. For a small trees garden, choose small treeser trees, with the emphasis on those that are relatively slow growing. If there are established trees in the garden, try to make use of them, as nothing gives a greater sense of maturity. Not only do these provide interesting contrasts of foliage texture and color throughout the year, they also act as a foil for many deciduous shrubs.

Need large space; use small trees aviary or screened-in porch. In the wild, cockateels nest in hollow limbs, holes in trees, and in old stumps; usually select large holes in dead trees; eggs are laid on decaying wood at bottom of hole. Provide birds with small trees barrel, such as pickle or small trees nail keg; place high up and at back of cage.

On The Other Hand See Mass In Small Balanced:

Red ramshom snail: Excellent for any size aquarium. Source-Dealers. Description—Curled like ram's horn; transparent; body coral-red. Reproduction—Eggs deposited in round, flat mass of pink jelly attached to sides of aquarium. Fish are fond of these eggs and young snails. To rear, remove egg mass with sharp Knife or razor blade. Place mass in small balanced aquarium jar. When eggs hatch, keep small pieces of clean, fresh lettuce on water for young to feed on. Food—Consists of minute animal life and dead and decaying matter; heavy feeder; keep piece of fresh lettuce leaf floating on water at all times. When tomatoes are in season, place small piece on lettuce leaf once per week.

The picture should balance both vertically and horizontally, per¬haps with a large mass near the center or to one side balanced by several smaller objects on the other side, or by a single smaller one farther from the center. Strange as it may seem, the exact center is always the weakest spot. The best position for the principal object is a little to one side and slightly above or below the center.
