Trust House Chain: For luxury touring, know that there are very fine hotels. In Edinburgh there are five of official first-class rating, the George, the Caledonian, the North British, the Royal British and the Roxburghe. The first two I know to be excellent, with modern rooms and baths, attractive lounges and fine cuisines. The New Carlton, of the Trust House chain, is a good hotel of more moderate price range, popular with "middle-budget" travelers.
Even though the mechanism of DNA replication (self-dupli¬cation) is now understood in principle, much remains to be discovered. We know by direct experiment that during replica¬tion the two original chains come apart, and that each new double helix contains one old chain and one new chain. We also know that the chains do not separate completely before replication starts. Rather, the process begins at one part of the chain, with the unwinding and synthesis of new chains pro¬ceeding simultaneously. We still do not know exactly what causes the two chains to untwist, nor do we know precisely how the enzyme acts in the synthesis of the new chain.See Also House ^representatives:In 12 he was elected to the United States house ^Representatives Representatives, and on March 4, 1913, began long service in the house ^Representatives. On The Other Hand See House Of Guise:GUISE, gez, a branch of the ducal house of Lc raine that rose to great prominence in 16th ce tury politics in France. The name is derivi from the town of Guise in northern Franc which was the historical capital of the Thieracl district and is now in the department of Aisn Claude de Lorraine. The founder of the hon of Guise was Claude de Lorraine (1496-1550 second son of Rene II, Duke of Lorraine, I Philippa de Gheldre.
In this new kind of war, the military genius of Francois de Guise did not serve him well. The only great battle of the first religious war, at Dreux in December 1562, was inconclusive. Soon thereafter, as Francois was preparing to lay siege to Orleans and peace negotiations were under way, he was assassinated by a Huguenot fanatic, Jean Poltrot de Mere, in February 1563.
The primary leadership of the house of Guise now fell on the shoulders of the Cardinal of Lor¬raine. However, Charles was still deeply involved in ecclesiastical affairs. |
