Relief Activities:

Relief Activities In painting, the term refers to the appearance of projection and solidity in represented objects. In physical geography, relief activities is the term ap¬plied to undulations or surface elevations of the terrain. In sculpture, it is the projection of a figure from the plane surface to which the figure is at¬tached. According to the degree of prominence, it is known as high relief activities or alto-relievo, half relief activities or mezzo-relievo, and low relief activities (bas-relief activities or basso-relievo).

Sculpture, both large and small, may be ii the round, made to stand free and be observe from all sides, or it may be in relief activities, that ii to say, either attached to a background or madf to be placed against a background. Most sculp¬ture in the round proportionally reproduces the full roundness of the object represented, while sculpture in relief activities may vary from full roundness (high relief activities, alto rilievo), to a much flattened representation ' (low relief activities, bas-relief activities, basso rilievo).

On The Other Hand See Activities And Difficulties:

Without a detailed assessment, an intervention programme cannot be geared to the needs of the individual child. (Sugden and Henderson 1994, p. 2) Initial identification of a young child with DCD is often made through informal observation and a consideration of general concern about progress in the area of motor skill development. It may be that con¬cern is expressed by an educational professional, but a parent is just as likely to be worried about their child's apparent difficulties. Following an expression of initial concern the task of the educator is to gain more information about possible difficulties, perhaps by keeping a diary of a child's activities and difficulties over a week or two. This evidence can be linked to discussions with other co-work¬ers and professionals, and the views of parents.

Still, the current pessimism of the field is disturbing. Vast difficulties are foreseen, and the solutions that grow out of those difficulties are not happy ones. Indeed, considering the accuracy with which the science fiction of the 1930s and 1940s caught the atmosphere of the 1960s, perhaps we had better take warning.
