Opera House Of Belgrade: Its name is probably to be a Yugoslavian equivalent of "Our Taste."

Yugoslavia offers good opera and outstanding native ballet in the opera house of Belgrade and in other centers, but it does not much cater to the nightclub trade, not yet at least, though it doesn't frown on it either. In Belgrade, the Hotel Majestic has a cabaret; and two other nightspots are available called the Lotos and the Polos. A newer one is said to be taking form on Marshal Tito Boulevard.

Even if it had been, the mere appearance of French fleets and armies on British coasts and battlefields would have provoked a national reaction which would have been fatal to the Stuart cause. As the transport of manufactured goods became more important, canals, rail¬ways and roads cut across the land. The search for building materials accelerated as world population grew from about 900 million in 1800 to 1,650 million in 1900.
On the whole early American city planning had been excellent. The northern colonies fol¬lowed the tradition of basing the economy of their towns on the use of land. The dwellings were collected around common lands, the farm¬lands were adjacent. Once the pioneering was done, there was no need for walls, and the towns grew spaciously. When a community became too large for adequate intratransportation, new towns were founded. |
