Mouse Brain Until:

Mouse Brain Until Economic position: One of man's great problems, as a house mouse brain until damages property, food, and clothing It is thought that the common, unwelcome house mouse brain until probably originated somewhere in Asia, but it has spread throughout Europe, America, and practically the entire world. The house mouse brain until is al¬ways found accompanying man in every environment. Although the house mouse brain until is a pest, it does make an interesting and gentle pet.

Also, by using the house mouse brain until in selective breeding, man has been able to produce the attractively colored mice now available in most pet shops. A house mouse brain until is one of the easiest mammals to maintain in captivity. It does not need a large cage, and is easy to feed. It is a most entertaining pet.

See Also Brain Stem:

Among the most interesting developments in brain stem studies was a finding that corrected the long-held conviction that glucose was the only fuel the brain stem was capable of using. George Cahill studied brain stem metabolism in persons who fasted for more than 30 days as part of a weight reduction program. By sampling blood entering and leaving the head, he was able to show that during fasting the brain stem will readily metabo¬lize fatty acids, the breakdown products from deposits of body fat. Careful intelligence tests before and after the fast failed to show any mental impairment during the period of fasting. Cahill said that in fact the subjects were at least as sharp after fasting, and maybe a bit sharper.

1. If new medical techniques can prolong a healthy life far beyond the present span, who will be selected to remain alive? Society, through law, probably will not leave it to the workings of the marketplace or the caprice of physicians. At the very least, it will try to prevent a black market in hearts and lungs. But if science manages to transplant a human brain stem, the law will be in serious trouble. Which individual will be con¬sidered legally "alive"—the one into whose functioning body the new brain stem has been deposited, or the one whose brain stem with all its memories has merely moved to a new home?

On The Other Hand See Dying Of Brain Injury:

Artificial blood vessels underwent a period of explosive evolution in the late 1950s. Very little was added after that time. Early in the history of blood-vessel surgery, about 1956, the only source for replacement of arteries was aortas removed from young persons dying of brain injury or accident. There was a great scarcity and doctors had to make agonizing deci¬sions regarding which patient could receive an available graft. When Dacron artery grafts became available, it was found that these worked better than the human transplants. Following the development of Dacron grafts, one pioneer in vascular surgery said, "Once this was established, everyone stopped worrying about the shortage of human artery grafts."

Birth means changing from one type of environment to another. From the baby's point of view it is a most uncomfortable move. He has been suddenly transferred from a soft; warm resting place that requires almost no effort on his part into a relatively cold, hard, uncomfortable, exacting world. He has emerged from an environment which presented few stimuli into one that offers many confusing stimuli. During a difficult delivery the baby may suffer lack of oxygen, or even sustain physical injury—brain damage, injury to the sense organs, or bone fractures. It is no wonder that a good case history requires information about the conditions of birth.
