Moistened With Milk:

Moistened With Milk If goslings are but a few days old when brought in, they must be fed carefully; give stale bread crumbs mixed with small amount of corn meal and bran and moistened sufficiently to make crumbly. Ducklings that are but a few days old may be given finely chopped greens, such as clover, alfalfa, rye, and corn. Also give ducklings wheat, bran, corn meal, and hulled ground oats mixed with animal meal and just moistened with milk; add i part grit to 5 parts of this mixture.

Ducks lack the intelligence of geese and are more difficult to care for in the open because they are untidy and need water. An adult duck may be kept in a cage for 2 or 3 days without great dis¬comfort. Feed it grains moistened with water or milk. By the second day it will require a bath, a process worth watching. If there is a Sink in a classroom, fill it with water. Use a large dishpan if a Sink is not available. Place duck near the water and watch what follows.
