House Prototype: The first competition will generate proposals for a house prototype, variations of which can be replicated throughout the city.
In this competition, the house prototype will be demonstrated as an affordable single-family home on a typical New Orleans lot.
The second competition will generate a 140-unit housing community with mixed-use components on a high-ground site by the Mississippi River.
Winning designs will be published in Architectural Record and presented at the 2006 AIA Convention and Expo.
Selected submissions will appear on McGraw-Hill Construction web sites.

Propagate by seeds or division in spring.
On The Other Hand See Showcase House Together:Before the 2006 Pasadena Showcase house together House of Design opened a window into the world of design, special guests got a behind-closed-doors peek into the world of the 30 design teams. On April 21, two days before the official public opening, the welcome mat was laid out exclusively for members of the Pasadena Showcase house together House for the Arts organization and their friends as both a premiere of and a finale to the results of months of hard work.
According to the designers, the completed house was a hit with the owners.
"We've heard great things from them," said Christine Santana and Jenifer Manning of Santana Interiors, South Pasadena. "They gave their blessing."
