Chemical Education The High: In chemical education the high school text¬book prepared by the Chemical Education Ma¬terials Study was revised by three separate publishers, and the first recipients of the Conant Award for outstanding high school chemistry teaching were named. The award, sponsored by E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Co., Inc., was to be presented annually to teachers in six sections of the U.S. The undergraduate level Advisory Council on College Chemistry continued its projects on modern teaching aids, new labora¬tory experiments, and a survey of chemistry teaching in junior colleges.
ACS Award in Chemical Education. The $1,000 American Chemical Society Award in Chemical Education is sponsored by the Scien¬tific Apparatus Makers Association and is given in recognition for contributions to the teaching of organic chemistry. In 1967 the recipient was Louis F. Fieser, Sheldon Emery professor of organic chemistry at Harvard University. In col¬laboration with his wife, Fieser has written many textbooks and laboratory manuals.
