Anti-soviet Activities: Gumilev (or Gumilyov) was born in Kron-stadt, Russia, on April 15, 1886. After studying in Russia and at the Sorbonne in Paris, he traveled in North Africa. His first book of poems, Put konkvistadorov (The Path of the Conquistadors) was published in 1905. By 1911 he and his wife, the poet Anna Akhmatova (q.v.), had become the nucleus of the "Acmeist" literary movement. He was not in sympathy with the Communists and on Aug. 25, 1921, was executed for alleged anti-Soviet activities.
Gumilev's popular books of verse include Zhemchuga (1910; Pearls), Kolchan (1916; Quiver), Kostyor (1918; The Pyre) Shatyor (1921; The Tent), and Ognenny stotp (1921; Pillar of Fire). He also wrote essays and reviews and translated French, English, Chinese, and In¬dian poets. Some of his poems appeared in an English translation as Abinger Garland (1945).
The Potsdam Agreement of August 1945 assigned German assets in Hungary, Bulgaria, Rumania, and the Soviet Zone of Austria to the Soviet Union, as well as removable equipment in the Soviet Zone of Germany and 25 per cent of that in the Western Zones. Other captured enemy assets were left to the Western Allies.See Also Clothing In Activities Associated:There are many ways of encouraging language development within the framework of a satisfying relationship. By taking time to talk with the baby, to name and explain familiar objects and activities in which he is interested, to answer his questions, and to tell him stories about himself and his activities, parents can maintain a happy association with the baby, and, incidentally, increase his vocabulary. While the baby is dressing, the mother can name rhythmically the various articles of clothing in activities associated as they are put on. Lucy Sprague Mitchell (65, 1921) has shown the poetic pos¬sibilities of such rhythmic enumeration. The words the child naturally learns first are those which he needs in his familiar environment, such as are learned during the preverbal stage is one reason why they are es¬pecially difficult to identify and eradicate in later years.
This time, I will begin with a definition: Publicity is a message about your activities prepared as editorial, rather than advertising, material, and pub¬lished or broadcast without charge.
Apart from the public relations techniques I have described, you can get a lot of mileage by keeping the newspapers, radio, and TV stations in your area informed of your activities. However, before we get into the details, remember that these activities must have some interest to the people who will see or hear them, or the editors will throw away your material.
On The Other Hand See The Activities:School Activities can be pictured for The activities school newspaper, The activities school records or yearbook, and The activities students The activitiesmselves. Covering games, festivals, and club activities can often be The activities entering wedge to getting The activities profitable graduation picture business, too.
Sadly, political events seem to be working against such approaches. Early statements sounded supportive of an increased profile for sport and physical activities:
Labour's approach to sport recognises The activities need to focus on a founda¬tion where young children are introduced to a broad and balanced pro¬gramme of activities (Labour Party 1996, p. 6) and Primary school teachers are to be given The activities key role of ensuring that all children experience physical activities. This is not only beneficial to children's health, it can also help equip The activitiesm with social skills and The activities enthusiasm for lifelong sports participation. |
